Follow what you delegated
On the Delegated tab, follow your subtasks and creator tasks, edit or reassign them, and comment.
What it's for
The Delegated tab shows everything you handed on: the subtasks of your tasks that chatters and schedulers are doing, and the tasks you gave creators. You follow their progress, add comments, and change or reassign them while they are open. The person doing the task is the one who moves it on.
Before you start
- You're signed in as a Manager.
- You gave at least one subtask (Give part of a task to someone) or one creator task (Give a creator a task).
Steps
Open the Delegated tab
On Management → My tasks, click Delegated. Each card shows the person doing it and its status. A creator's task has a Creator label.
Open a delegated task
Click a card. The panel shows the title, the person, the due date and the priority, the instructions, "Part of" and your task's title (for a subtask), and the History. There are no Move to buttons: you can't change its status.
Edit or reassign it (only while it is open)
Click Edit. A panel Edit task opens on the right with the same fields as when you created it. You can change the title, the instructions, the due date, the priority, or the person in Assign to. Click Save changes.
For a subtask, Assign to lists chatters and schedulers. For a creator's task, it lists creators.
Add a comment (optional)
Write in the Comment box (at least 2 characters) and click Add comment. The person doing it reads it in the task's History. A creator never sees comments.
What you should see
- After Save changes: a message Task updated. History shows "Edited the task.", or "Edited and reassigned to" and the new person's name.
- After a reassign, the task leaves the first person's My tasks and shows on the new person's.
- When the person moves it on, the status changes on your card, and History shows the step, for example "To do → In progress."
- On a Done or Cancelled task, there is no Edit button. You can still read it and comment.
Test checklist
Good to know
The Delegated tab also shows subtasks an administrator added to one of your tasks for someone else. They follow your task, so you can edit and comment on them too.
You are testing on real data
The test app shares its data with the live app. A task you give really lands on that person's My tasks. Use TEST tasks (a title that starts with TEST), give them only to the test accounts (the test Chatter, Scheduler or Creator), never to a real person, and finish them (or ask an administrator to cancel them) when you're done.
If someone changed the task while you had it open, you see "This task changed while you were looking at it. Reload and try again." Reload the page and try again.
