Work on a task
Open one of your own tasks, move it to In progress, Blocked or Done, and add comments.
What it's for
When you work on a task an administrator gave you, you show your progress. You change its status (for example to In progress, then Done) and you can add a comment. The administrator sees it.
Before you start
- You're signed in as a Manager.
- You have at least one open task on Assigned to me (My tasks). While testing, only work on a "TEST task" an administrator gave you for the test: moving a real task changes real work.
Steps
Open the task
On Management → My tasks, tab Assigned to me, click the task card. A panel opens on the right. At the top you see the title and a line with your name, the due date and the priority, for example "Jane Example · due Wed, Oct 22 · Normal priority".
Read the task
Under the status you see the instructions. If there are none: "No instructions."
If there is a file, the Attachment part shows its name and size. Click Download to get it.
On a task you can split, you also see Subtasks and the Add subtask button. See Give part of a task to someone.
Change the status
Under Move to, there is one button for each status you can choose. For example, on a To do task: In progress, Blocked and Done.
You can write a note first in the box "Optional note with the change". Then click the status.
Add a comment (optional)
Write in the Comment box (at least 2 characters). Click Add comment.
Read the history
Under History you see every step, oldest first, with who did it and when.
Close the panel
Click outside the panel, or press Esc.
The statuses
| Status | What it means |
|---|---|
| To do | Not started yet. |
| In progress | You are working on it. |
| Blocked | You can't go on (for example, you are waiting for something). Add a note to say why. |
| Done | Finished. |
| Cancelled | An administrator stopped it. |
You can move a task freely between To do, In progress, Blocked and Done. Done and Cancelled are closed: only an administrator can open them again.
What you should see
- After a status button: a message Status updated. The status changes. History shows the change, for example "To do → In progress." (with your note after it, if you wrote one).
- After Add comment: a message Comment added. and your comment in History.
- On a Done or Cancelled task: no Move to buttons and no Add subtask.
What you can't do on your own task:
- No Edit button: you can't change the title, the instructions, the due date or the person. Ask the administrator who gave it to you.
- No Cancelled button and no Reopen button.
- You can't add or remove a file. You can only download it.

Good to know
If someone changed the task while you had it open, you see "This task changed while you were looking at it. Reload and try again." Reload the page and try again.
Closing your task does not close its subtasks. Each chatter or scheduler finishes their own part.
