Give a creator a task
Ask a creator to do something (sign a contract, send new photos) with Task for a creator.
What it's for
Sometimes the agency needs something from a creator: sign a contract, send new photos, record an intro. With Task for a creator you give a creator a task. They see it in their creator portal under My tasks, start it and mark it done there. You follow it on your Delegated tab.
Before you start
- You're signed in as a Manager.
- The creator has a login for the creator portal. An administrator creates it. Without any creator login, the Task for a creator button is not shown.
- While testing, give the task only to the Creator test account (the owner shares these privately), never to a real creator: they see it in their portal at once.
Steps
Start the task
On Management → My tasks, click Task for a creator (on the right, above the cards). A panel Task for a creator opens on the right. Under the title: "The creator sees it in their portal under My tasks and marks it done there."
Fill it in
- Title: what to do, 3 to 140 characters. You must fill this in.
- Instructions: the details (optional, up to 5,000 characters). The creator reads them.
- Assign to: click Choose a person and pick the creator. The list shows only creators, under Creators.
- Account (only when the creator has accounts linked to their login): Not about one account (picked first) or one of their accounts. "Shown on the creator's task as a badge."
- Due date (ET) (optional): today or later.
- Priority: Low, Normal (picked first) or High.
Send it
Click Assign task.
What you should see
- A message at the bottom right: Task assigned.
- The task is on your Delegated tab, with the creator's name and a Creator label (and the account, if you picked one).
- Its History shows "Created and assigned to" and the creator's name.
- Signed in as the creator, the task is in their portal under My tasks, in To do.
- When the creator clicks Start and Mark as done, the status on your Delegated tab changes to In progress, then Done, and their notes show in History.
If something is wrong, a red message shows under the field: Give the task a short title., Choose who does it., Choose an active person who can be assigned tasks. or Choose one of this creator's accounts.

Good to know
What the creator sees
The comment box on a creator's task says "Comments stay inside the agency. The creator sees the title, instructions, due date, file and status changes." Your name is never shown to the creator: their history says "Your agency".
A creator only moves a task forward: To do → In progress → Done. Only an administrator can block, cancel or reopen it. The creator's own steps are in the Creator guide.
The app doesn't email the creator about the task yet. Tell them it is waiting in their portal.
You are testing on real data
The test app shares its data with the live app. A task you give really lands on that person's My tasks. Use TEST tasks (a title that starts with TEST), give them only to the test accounts (the test Chatter, Scheduler or Creator), never to a real person, and finish them (or ask an administrator to cancel them) when you're done.
